I'm not sure how useful it would be to extend the amount of text to register during the test. Even with the 3 second wait added in the the box drawing test time is short to check the results. Console tests to check if the intended glyphs are shown would be useful but the EFI selftest should still tests that it can render UTF-8 correctly (partial support on cp437 bitmap font consoles).
