Hi @Ilias Apalodimas<mailto:[email protected]>,

I do not have access to a macOS machine, so I cannot check whether the host
tools still build with this change. If you have macOS or access to the macOS CI
jobs, could you please look at that?

The tests run as part of the github pipeline. If you open a PR there you'd be
able to test it

Cheers
/Ilias

@[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>, would you be able to
test this on BSD and let me know if you run into any issues with the GNU Make
4.0 requirement?

Thanks,
Suraj Kakade

I opened a CI-only GitHub PR to run the macOS host-tools job: Makefile: drop
GNU Make < 4.0 compatibility code by Kakade-27 · Pull Request #1048 ·
u-boot/u-boot<https://github.com/u-boot/u-boot/pull/1048>
The "Ensure host tools build for macOS X" job succeeded, and I did not observe
any failures in the rest of the Azure pipeline either.

@[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>, did you get a chance
to test this on BSD?

I will drop them in v2.

Thanks,
Suraj Kakade

Yes, the kernel didn't enforce this requirement as the minimum until
around v6.10 or so.
