The article seems to be a promotion of PeopleSoft not necessarily IBM.

Subject: [U2] IBM positioning Linux against Microsoft

Ref:
http://www.crn.com/sections/BreakingNews/breakingnews.asp?ArticleID=50230

If IBM really wants to target Microsoft, why don't they start telling the
world about all of the existing U2 applications that run on Linux with
features and stability that rival that of competitors like Great Plains,
QuickBooks, and even PeopleSoft. If they really want to get competitive,
how about buying D3 from Raining Data and adding even more applications to
their arsenal? If IBM really wants to attack the middle-tier market, they
shouldn't position enterprise-scale apps into a lower tier, they should make
use of applications that were designed for the tier that they're targeting.
I think the MV market has proven that it can hold its own, but it needs
companies like IBM to take a stand and actually market the apps to a wider
audience. It's good technology, why do all of these companies (IBM, Raining
Data, Temenos ) buy into the technology and then continue to keep it a big
secret? Do they want a return on their investments or don't they?
