Bjorn/Ross,

I tried some time ago to put together an extended UML for UniVerse, but did not get any
buy-in for it. The difficulty is that, for a new system, you can use UML and remain
within the restrictions it presents, but for mapping an existing system it does not
provide for e.g. Q-Pointers, select lists, file types, multilevel data files, files
accessed using other dictionaries, files accessed from other accounts, sequential files
and all of the other ideosyncracies of mv databases.

We have a product called uvAudit that presents some of this graphically, though it is
primarily aimed at impact analysis (object code analysis, file access, dictionary links
etc). rather than as a documentation tool. There may be other mv-specific tools that
can
do this. But I think you will find UML a little too restrictive.

On a positive, you might be able to import into Visio. I know it takes delimited input
files and generates charts from that, so you may be able to write something that will
generate a suitable output format from UniVerse.

Regards,

Brian
