There's no proc manual for Unidata, but Universe has one (and calls it ProVerb).
The UV 10.1 doc set is here:
http://www-306.ibm.com/software/data/u2/pubs/library/100univ/univ_101.html
The "UniVerse Guide to ProVerb, Version 10.1" direct link is:
http://publibfi.boulder.ibm.com/epubs/pdf/25119220.pdf
Malcolm Bull has a great online guide to Pick:
http://members.aol.com/mbtexts/index.html
which contains a proc section here:
http://members.aol.com/mbtpublish/mmp214.html
Proc is *not* a dirty word to me. Maybe it got that reputation for lack of a good
tutorial. IMHO, it's a tremendously useful tool for automating simple things and
modularizing more complex things. Think of it as equivalent to batch files (.bat) in
DOS. Things get ugly when programmers attempt to push proc into complex areas much
better served by basic programs.
Hope this helps,
Tom

If you need a generic PROC manual for PICK, look here:
http://www.rainingdata.com/support/techpubs2/apprm013.html
If you need U2 specific manuals, look here:
http://www-306.ibm.com/software/data/u2/pubs/library/
