D type for defining what is in a field (attribute, column) I type for construed data PH for phrases X for user data The above letter or letters should be in the first field of any dictionary. You can follow this letter with a comment if you like. For D types field 2 contains the field number this dictionary refers to, for I types field 2 contains an expression which you code much the same as you code BASIC. For D and I types the next 5 fields are the same... field 3 contains your conversion criteria (eg: MD2, D2/, etc). Is often empty. field 4 contains the column heading to be used on a report. It can contain value marks to make multiline headings. field 5 contains the format criteria (eg: L#10, 10L, 12R2$,Z, etc) field 6 contains either S or M. The S means this data is single valued and the M means it is multivalued. field 7 is often empty but if field 6 is an M this field can contain the name of a PHrase item that defines the dictionaries that are associated and multivalued The info is in the documentation it isn't obvious thought. Give the above a try and good luck. Oh! Almost forgot. The A and S types are the old Pick style and unless you have to I would suggest you don't bother with these.
