LeRoi,

>From TCl, simply try to run UVFIXFILE against it. If it is 64-bit it will
tell you so.
:UVFIXFILE LEROI
uvfixfile does not support 64-bit files.
:

Also, the BASIC STATUS statement (not the STATUS() function) stores the
information for the file in the following fields (from the BASIC manual):
31 File revision stamp One of the following:
                        ACEF01xx = 32-bit file
                        ACEF02xx = 64-bit file
                        xx is the file revision level

32 Addressing and Header 1 = old style file header, 32-bit addressing
      Support Style 3 = new style file header, 32-bit addressing
                        5 = new style file header, 64-bit addressing

In filepeek, just type filepeek filename/path and it will automatically
open with 32-bit or 64-bit addressing, if your release is new enough:
filepeek status:
  Active file .......... "C:\IBM\Accounts\TEST.PICK\LEROI"
  Current file address . 0x0000000000000000
  Maximum file address . 0x00000000000009FF
  Window size .......... 512 bytes
  0xFF will display as . ""
  Default base ......... 16
  Default mode ......... 64-bit
  File type ............ 18
  Modulo ............... 3
  Separation ........... 1
  Group 0 .............. 0x0000000000000400
  Free head ............ 0x0000000000000000

Hi

I think this was on the forum recently, but please humout me :o)

How do I identify a UniVerse file as 64-bit or 32-bit?

Do I have to use filepeek to look at the header? If so, could you provide
instructions?

Much thanks,
LeRoi
