Hi Tony , all i can say is , well - no. you are being very naive on this subject. don't blame this on replies to the list. you post your address yourself everytime you post to this list just like the one i am replying to - take a look at the From: header. this is where the replying mail reader gets its info from, this is also where spammers get their info from - they do not wait to harvest from replies.
imo , all mail sent from this list to subscribers should have no other address than the list address itself. the 'friendly' name in the address can be set to reflect the poster's friendly name, but that has nothing to do with the originating email address. real address or not , the same problem still exists as long as the list sends out the originators email address with every post. I control my own mail server and can generate as many different email addresses as I want, just like the unique address i use for this list. but what good does it do now that the list has been infected ? i can drop that address and start using a new one which means I have to unsubscribe & resubscribe to the list, but since the list is infected, the very next post will simply get the new address right back on the spammer list again !! gerry ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tony Gravagno" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Tuesday, September 21, 2004 03:05 am Subject: RE: [U2] spammed > gerry wrote: > > > imo - the solution to this problem is simple - the posters email > > address should not be included in the distributed postings. > > i know the list address , the list address knows my address and > > nobody else knows anything. > > > > > From: "Glen B" > >> Something else to consider, is the presence of your e-mail in > >> cross-posting on lists/newsgroups and web forums.
