I always transfer binary. I've never really understood why you would use
an ascii ftp. But, I guess that's another subject entirely. :-)

Did you try an ascii transfer? That probably won't work
on a hashed UD file. Try a binary ftp. UV has a tool called format.conv
for byte-swapping. Not sure what UD calls it. You may have to use that
tool on the file after it's transferred over.
