Claus, you dont even need delphi
Create a class to encapsulate all Universe calls and make it an activex dll so that its single threaded multiuse
That way multiple executables use a single universe session object
This can also be the menu driver and initialise common
It used to be possible to substitute uniobjects with a socket server and run that as a phantom and comsume zero licenses but that probably wont work anymore on the later releases.
As for big applications, it should be possible to convert legacy software into a subset of basic subroutines representing business rules that can be used by telnet or uniobjects.
This will reduce considerably the number of programs required and you can use vb/delphi for the front end.

Has anyone on the list tried to build a really huge application with delphi/vb??, and if so, what approach did you use to make it easy to be several developers to work on the application at the same time??
what is best to reduce licensing ?? - using some sort of a broker to keep connection to u2 ? or just rely on device licensing and have a maximum of 10 concurrent sessions on each pc ?
I understand that if i build my app. around a central small executable and a
lot of dll's then several developers can work on their own subprojects on a
single dll, but how do you maintain connection to u2,
as the dll functions cant see the unisession object in the central
executable ?
Anyone who knows the approx. price to upgrade U2 server edition to enterprise edition ?
