You could unsubscribe for the duration of your "out of office", and resubscribe upon returning.

How do you recommend limiting them when they are required by an employer and completely out of one's hands as to functionality, etc...

I created a filter in my email software that puts them in a folder I take
a look at sometimes... That's where yours ended up. However with that
said, they are STILL annoying.
