IMHO as I transverse the whole spectrum (no pun intended) of MV flavors, including some native clients, the consistency of ED appeals to me. I've tried using Notepad or other DOS-like editors and while I am very proficient in those for their own purposes, mixing them with MV data or programs feels like a struggle.
Perhaps I need to merge stuff more often than most. I like the programability of the MV editor with an active list. Again, that's just my opinion.
