I don't know about the Unidata question but for the second one:

A distributed file can span disks, that's about it really. As for very large
files you could use 64bit dynamic files. Their maximum size will be dependent
on your OS assuming it allows them. So you could potentially have a
distributed file made of 64bit dynamic files if you wanted.

Subject: [U2] Distributed files VS Dynamic files

I spoke with a friend a few days ago about Distributed files .. I had never
worked with them before .. Now after doing some research (Kudos to Malcolm
Bull) I understand what DF's are ..

My questions are these:
Is there an equivalent of a distributed file on UniData?
Is there an equivalent to a UniData dynamic file (that can span disks and
reach tera-byte size) on UniVerse?

I know the two concepts are unrelated, but in the case of files growing over
2gb, they seem to overlap in usefulness ..

Any ideas?
