Scott,

In ED, use "^253" for a Value Mark, "^252" for a Subvalue Mark.
E.G. if you type "A ^253data", ED will add another MultiValue, contents
"data", to the end of the line.

To see marks in that format, use the "^" toggle at the ED prompt

No, there is no full-screen editor bundled with UV, although UniDebugger
is free and on the UV Clients CD.

The "NT AUTHORITY\system" user is probably running the deadlock daemon
(the "Terminal No" column should have something like "uvdlock:<number>"
in it)

Your client is running UniVerse version 9.4
In UD terms, that's pretty much like running a UD 3.3 release. :-(
'VMark' were the original UniVerse people, then they became Ardent, then
Informix, then (ta-da!) IBM.
Your client is w-a-y, w--a--y overdue for an upgrade.
Current version is 10.1, other versions since 9.4 are 9.5, 9.6 and 10.0

HTH

Mike

Subject: [U2] Universe full screen editor

I am working on a client's Universe server with no documentation. The
client is using software they purchased. I need to update a few records
that have multivalues and the ED help doesn't say how I can insert or
replace values.

Does a full screen editor come with Universe? Or is there some way to
call a full screen editor from the operating system?

Typing listu gets me a user named "NT AUTHORITY\system". While logging
off and back on I get the following text "Vmark Universe" and "Universe
Command Language 9.4".

I am normally a Unidata programmer so this is a bit of a struggle.

Thank you for your assistance,
