1. T30FILE.
If your MFILES was set to the default, 12, then chances are T30FILE also
needs to be tweaked, given that you have so many dynamic files. I
assume you compared the old DG uvconfig to the new Linux one and can
account for the differences.

My MFILES increase was an 'educated guess'. It didn't really do
anything for me. I will most likely put it back to 12.
-----
[cds]: NO! Don't do that! MFILES should be large. It should generally
be 8 less than the Unix "nfile" (or is it nfiles??? cant remember)
parameter. MFILES limits how many files Universe will really have open
at one time. 12 is oppressive. It's hard to believe you would not see
a difference on a loaded system with many users.
(When you made this change to uvconfig, you stopped uv, did
uv/bin/uvregen, then restarted universe, right? And this was on
production, not a development box without a load, right?)
The default of 12 is because of some historical baggage from when unix
and universe were newer and smaller.

The T30FILE is set to 200 default, which appears to be fine. We are
just under 100 on that one.
-----
[cds]: After the machines has been up a while and gone through an entire
businness cycle, namely the high use periods run analyze.shm -dn.
The "-n" parameter will list all 200 slots. You should see slots with
0's in the Files column, but info in other columns. However many
slots have data in them, is the most you've ever needed simultaneously.
Set T30FILES larger than that.

Today I was comparing the DG uvconfig to the Linux to the defaults in
the manual. There are some differences in params that have to do with
i/o. I will experiment with these on a test machine and then live they
are;
Linux DG Default according to Manual
GLTABSZ 50 75 75
RLTABSZ 50 75 75
RLOWNER 50 300 300
MAXRLOCK 40 100 74
I don't ever recall changing these, so I don't know how they differed
from the defaults.

-----
[cds]: I'd be tempted to set them to how they were on DG w/o doing any
other analysis.
I think there is a technical bulletin on the uvconfig parametes. It's
several years old, but still of use. You can get it from IBM's web
site, I suppose. But all I found was an explanation to go to
ardentsoftware.com.
