I was away for a week, but seeing some frustrations raised with IBM U2 division, I thought it was worthwhile to give a different perspective. Susie Siegesmund alluded to some issues in recent presentations and this may shed some light on what is happening.
For the U2 division to provide certain facilities like the Uv PE downloads they have to now do this in the format and structure that IBM handles all other downloads of software such as DB2, websphere, etc. This is likely responsible for the delays in making this facility available at the moment. Susie has endeavoured to make these processes as painless as possible for U2 users and to minimise the IBM bureaucratic impact. With technical resources, IBM software is under major redevelopment of all technical documentation and resources. From Susie's last presentation, the U2 division appears to be well ahead of the rest of IBM in accomplishing this and hopefully when this is all up and running we will have a superior resource available to all U2 users. The IBM U2 division is our allies within the IBM group and we should be mindful of their challenges. To make discussions more successful and to help them to sponser requests it is import to provide a business case for such requests. This is not to incite a furthering of the Uv PE discussion and further discussion of this should be posted to the community mail list.
