HPUX 11i man page for fsync says: "WARNINGS The current implementation of these functions is inefficient for large files." UV's transaction logging checkpointing uses the unix "fsync" utility and you cannot use TXLG for >2GB files due to this HPUX limit. Also, some unix commands that an administrator might use to move UV files around don't work with files >2GB.
