As others have pointed out the routine is "!EXIST" - look in APP.PROGS, the code is there. All it does is open "GLOBAL.CATDIR" and attempts to read a record keyed on the subroutine.name.

Maybe I'm thinking of some other MV player, but isn't there a UV-defined function that can be called to see if a subroutine exists so one can check instead of calling and getting a runtime error? I don't see it in the pdfs. Something like: SUBRNAME = something IF !EXISTS( SUBRNAME, number of args and other stuff ) THEN CALL @SUBRNAME( arg1, arg2, . . . ) ELSE forget about it I'd swear I've done this sort of thing in the past, but I'm drawing a blank. Maybe I rolled my own, or I' m thinking of PI or AP or or . . .
