Yay! Misery Loves Company! I have the same problem on Win 2K, running UV 10.0.21. I was told by my VAR to run uvlictool. They also said that this is a known issue for which IBM is not planning a fix. (Maybe they consider the problem to lie somewhere outside of UV.) Since I'm an end user, I can't get support directly from IBM and must rely on what the VAR says, so I make do with uvlictool.
I had no problems with licenses when on Win NT4 running UniVerse. (I can't recall which UV version I was on back then. It was 9.something.) The problem started when we moved to a new server running Win 2K and higher version of UV. We've upgraded UV twice and the problem has persisted with all 3 versions of UV on the Win 2K server. Since moving to the Win2K/UV system, I also have problems with users getting locked up and not being released. If you look at the Users in UVAdmin, the locked up connections show up as "unavailable." This happens less frequently than the license count problem but also results in the license count being off when you finally get rid of the user. Some of these "unavailable" connections won't go away by using UVAdmin or logout. My VAR had me download pckill to use to get rid of those. (Then either logout or UVAdmin tools will work to get rid of the user.) Once I have been able to clear the user out (usually using UVAdmin), I need to run uvlictool to correct the user license count. I am sorry I don't have a solution for you. I'm very interested to see if anyone has a better, maybe automated, solution for this, or maybe even a FIX! Thanks for posting, Andy.
