You REALLY do want a FULL path where your indexes exist, because if you have remote connections that use the file, it has to resolve where indexes are.

By remote connections do you mean uniObjects/UniRPC or UVNET connections? We don't use UVNET but we may use UOJ in the future.

Our problem is that we make unix copies of files into end of month accounts which then point to the original index not the copied one.

I know I could delete the index and recreate it in the copied account but I really would rather not do that.

I suppose I could copy the file, delete the index, recreate the index and then copy the original index data into the account ... but that adds a half pike and double roll to the dive.
