Information Services - Job Description
Title: Systems Analyst
Scope: The Systems Analyst position involves system design and
analysis, provides programming customizations/enhancements to the
university's administrative software, provides end-user support and
creates/maintains reporting applications.
Responsibilities: These include the
design/testing/implementation/support of reporting initiatives defined
by the user offices. In addition, this position works with the Data
Warehouse Analyst ensuring that the integrity of the institution's
student information is maintained between Colleague and the data
warehouse. Other responsibilities include project leadership throughout
the development lifecycle of any custom application requested by user
offices. Individualized end-user training is also provided.
Duties:
* To provide a proactive approach to system design and analysis
* Define, design, write, test, and implement new computer programs
along with customizations and enhancements of existing programs.
* Work closely with end users to determine requirements and
analyze the impact and benefit of the request.
* Develop and maintain documentation regarding reporting solutions
and coding enhancements.
* Trouble-shoot problems involving the administrative software
system.
* Assists in the documentation of new policies and procedures.
* Lead workshops, and provide individual/group training.
* Work independently and manages many unstructured tasks within
specific guidelines and time constraints.
* Create, maintain, and support all ad-hoc and stored reporting
procedures. This includes meeting with end users on a regular basis to
gather and refine report requirements.
Skills: * Working knowledge of Datatel's administrative software
application - Colleague.
* Working knowledge of Datatel's Benefactor software applications
would be a plus.
* Working knowledge of "multi-value" RDBMS, i.e. Unidata.
* Working knowledge of querying and data extraction tools. i.e.
UniQuery, SQL would be an advantage.
* Working knowledge of ELF is a definite advantage.
* Ability to troubleshoot and solve software problems efficiently.
* Ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Familiarity with the relational database model and database
concepts.
* Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
* Ability to learn new computer languages and software.
* Ability to learn PC and 3rd party software so as to be able to
help create interfaces from the Administrative software to outside
packages.
Salary Range: $46,000 - 52,000
