Just for fun, I created a proc to run a copy
ED VOC BMN
Top of "BMN" in "VOC", 6 lines, 48 characters.
*--: P
001: PQ
002: HSELECT BMN.BP 'TEST'
003: STON
004: HCOPY BMN.BP<
005: H<
006: P
Bottom.
And ran the thing
:BMN
1 record(s) selected.
TO: BMN.BP:
Use select list data(Y/N)? Y
TEST
TEST RECORD
Is there a UDTOPTION?, because my proc prompted me.
Maybe I misunderstood your original email, maybe it's Friday.
Have a good weekend.

Subject: RE: [U2] [UD] Can a pgm tell what started it?
That is what we are trying to do. In order to ensure that we don't
break any existing programs or procs using COPY, our replacement needs
to emulate the real COPY in all ways. We've covered all its uses
(with/without select lists, to same/different files, pick/UniData mode,
overwriting, deleting, etc.), but the proc prompt/no prompt trick has us
stumped.
