Here's the fastest on D3, W2K, 1GB Memory, 40 licenses, 35 nominal users.

B=A
CONVERT CHAR(254) TO CHAR(253) IN B
The line B=A works on D3 despite A being a DIM array and then B becoming a
string. MATPARSE or other command can be used.
I will post a single program with all 10 tests for your convenience this
evening.
