Thanks David, Unfortunately we are not even looking to be as forward thinking as a web service here - just a plain old Windows Service - to run in the background.
The most annoying thing is that we have something similar running as a web service and it actually works OK. Nevertheless, thanks for your help. When you are doing a webservice you have to process through the IIS facility. With IIS particularly older versions of windows server there is an issue with running dlls for security reasons, a bit like the sandbox security of java. As the dll is being accessed from the internet it creates a potential security hole and thus there are restrictions to running dlls. I cannot remember the specific details, but read up about inprocess/outprocess dlls in IIS. What you have to do is to declare the dlls you want to use and they will work with IIS. Caution, every time you update the dlls you may have to restart IIS. Hope this points you in the right direction Regards David Jordan ------- u2-users mailing list [email protected] To unsubscribe please visit http://listserver.u2ug.org/ ------- u2-users mailing list [email protected] To unsubscribe please visit http://listserver.u2ug.org/
