They'd show with the proper name with LIST/SORT. They just coudn't be READ or edited with ED/AE

I've had success accessing garbled IDs by doing a wildcard
SELECT which includes them, then ED FILENAME, then when you get to it SAVE
A.BETTER.NAME and FD. :)

I don't remember this working. I remember deleting them at the DOS level and then adjusting the code to use -'s.
