Hi Bruce

We are a software house that has a client base covering Australia Wide and
Opportunity overseas. As we deal with a small application trying to support
it over such a base is a nightmare. Whilst our application virtually runs
itself, it is the silly things that requires support, "did you plug the
monitor into the wall, have you it switched on" you probably know the think.

We have a VB client and use uniobjects to connect to the database. I have
done some testing of the environment over the Internet and it does not
effect performance. So to us hosting sounds a good idea.

I have been in discussions with a major ISP to host U2 sites on the Web.
Whilst hosting it ourselves is not impossible, having an organization that
have staff trained to detect security breaches and who have staff that work
24x7 and can look after backup and recovery lets small ISV focus on the
product. We have to educate ISPs who are used to SQL Server and Oracle how
to manage a U2 environment, it is a very different and cheaper environment
than what they are used to.

They will also want a business justification, so if I can find more U2
people who are interested, then they will have a better business
justification.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you want some more information.

Goo'day, David,

This intrigues me:

In what way do you see either of the U2's permitting "easier" access via
VPN?
