Bill, We have a Tandberg 1/4- inch cartridge external tape drive and two external scsi controllers (one with a USB connector and one with a PC card connector).
This has allowed us to install a tape drive on most any Windows O.S. machine, including our laptop, quickly and easily. We also have two programs (TAPE.DUMP and TAPE.LOAD) that will dump or load any one, list of or all dict and/or data files in an account, even if the dict/data files do not exist on the target account. Using this strategy, we have successfully converted entire software accounts from AP, mvBase and R91 to Universe, even though the mvBase and the Universe servers did not have any tape drive installed in their servers. If both your source and target databases are running Windows machines, this should work well for you. It doesn't have to be a QIC drive; any external scsi drive will work. hth, Dave Dave Taylor President Sysmark Information Systems, Inc. 49 Aspen Way Rolling Hills Estates, CA 90274 800-SYSMARK (800-797-6275) (O) 310-544-1974 (P) 800-339-1497 (F) 310-377-3550 Your Source for Integrated EDI Translation and DataSync Integration www.sysmarkinfo.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bill Haskett" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, December 25, 2005 7:51 PM Subject: RE: [U2] T-DUMP > Kate: > > > -----Original Message----- > > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Kate Stanton > > Sent: Saturday, December 24, 2005 6:50 PM > > To: [email protected] > > Subject: Re: [U2] T-DUMP > > > > Is there any reason why you can't make a DOS (UV type 19) > > file out, move it around however you like, and read it back into UD?Kate: > > Some data can be copied this way.
