I've seen instances of 'permanent' save lists but I've converted them to control records in a separate files.
I like Microdata's date & time stamp of their lists. UD/UV certainly have these in the unix level. I wish D3 had some because when looking only at the pointer-file, you really can't tell when they're made. And hunting down their source is not that easy with both SAVE-LIST, WRITELIST and writing directly to the POINTER-FILE.
