Can this be adapted to double-byte chars so we could have a Chinese version? ... in SB+?

We at U2logic have been using AJAX a long time. We call it by its call sign
of XMLHTTP. It concepts behind are simple. You can use your
Unidata/Universe subroutines from the web and it threads a process from
JavaScript.

This means the Web screen does not refresh. No longer are Web screens step
children to telnet processes. We can call routines before and after prompts just like we do on "green" screen technology. We update totals, verify code
files, check inventory, remove inventory, and update data all without the
user noticing any time delay.

We have even taken on the huge task of converting SB+ applications to the
Web. We have conversion processes that read through all of the forms,
processes, and menus. An XLr8 conversion process converts all them to
either basic code or ASP/JavaScript/HTML. That means at the end of the day
you no longer are tied to SB+ archaic looking screens, they are Web enabled.

If you are trying to code this manually it can be time consuming. We would
know we have over 1500 web forms developed for our software and our custom
software for our clients. That is why we developed XLr8. It creates the
code for the ASP/JSP programs that has all of the necessary calls to backend
to reuse that business logic that U2 clients have developed over the years.

This is why we our clients barely realize they are running Unidata/Universe.
This is where you have to be in today's world. We are competing against
applications from Microsoft, Oracle, and such. We better look and feel like
we are the best.

Glen:

You're a better man than I, being able to work with all these technologies!
I've given up.

People don't want what they say they want, nor do they want to minimize
costs and maximize profit. Thanks to the educational system and current
culture everything is now "form over substance". :-)
