But.......

Since I have not seen the code, I will make the assumption that the
developer was trying to make things easier not harder.  

First the 'lit' keyword on the equate statement is very powerful, and I
would admit it could be used in the wrong way.  Yet if app has some core
routines that take several arguments to control its actions then an
equated statement is much easier to remember then what flags have to be
set to get the specific action from the routine.  Plus, if in the future
the code is changed to have an additional argument, then it only has to
be changed in the include file, not each program.

P.S. for those outside the States where English is not your primary
language, you could really mess with people's heads by creating equates
for the commands.

i.e
EQU imprimer LIT "PRINT"

( note I used a English to French converter, so sorry if I insulted
anyone )
