My 0.02 USD (0.05 CAN)

Interesting. I find myself looking back to before I worked in IT and always
hated using Reply All. Most email conversations then were between
individuals. As I moved into an Educational institution I found that Reply
All was necessary as groups were not always available to reply to.

Now, having to be on several lists and attempting to be a 'good' member of
the community I try to throw in the odd word here and there. This often
means that Reply All is the easiest way to make sure that you get everyone.
If I don't want to clutter the list then just Reply to the individual. This
often works for suggested fixes where the expectation is that the person
would eventually post their thanks with what worked.

As courtesy, when I Reply All to a list I often edit the sender out. After
all, they get theirs from the list and really don't need two copies. Until a
programmer can make a Reply All button that can detect that your replying to
a list and to strip out the sender from the list of addresses... Well, lets
just say that that won't happen easily.

I always find it funny that Change Management falls under IT yet IT is what
doesn't want to change how they do things. Even if all it requires is "move
the mouse 1 inch to the right".

just as amusing as the fact the list ever had to be changed in the first
place for pretty much the same type of reason.

Hehe...

I find it amusing that a news list will starve because a bunch of computer
proffesionals can't change behavior and move the mouse 1 inch to the right
to do a 'reply to all', what do you do when a change in legislation makes it
neccessary to change a program ?? - ignores the change because it's annoying
to implement the change ?

I don't think the list will starve, eventually people will learn to move the
mouse that teeny little bit :-)

best regards from Denmark
