Just a couple of thoughts: 1. AFAIR there is a module in PHP that can instantiate Java classes - I remember JayJay did an article on using PHP with RedBack that exposed RedBack Objects through Java. You might be able to do something similar using UOJ if you haven't got RedBack.
2. Alternatively, you might want to hang fire a short time until the new Web Services are out of beta. I haven't tried them with PHP yet (making a mental note to do so) but if they are SOAP compatible I would expect them to work with the PHP NuSOAP libraries. That might be a smarter and simpler route. 3. I wrote a web services library myself for U2 which I did test with NuSOAP, but put it on ice when I heard about the IBM one.. But should that fail to deliver...
