Hi Klaus -

We're using replication on Unidata and replicating to a 2nd server. The
2nd server is used for reporting. IBM seems to be working on all the
issues, but we've had to work through them.

The transaction logging option seems interesting. Does one have to
reboot to use this option, or can one restore while the boxes are
on-line? We're looking to replicate to more than one box, and this
seems like an alternative.

Albeit, we're committed right now to working through all the issues with
the reporting box.

Thanks,
Brad

Subject: AW: [U2][UV]Replication and triggers

Hi Manu,

I never used replication but as far as I understood from the sessions at
the IBM information management conferences there are too many issues
involved in this. Instead there is a better option that does not have
any of those problems:

Consider using "transaction logging". Replicate the transaction logs to
the second server and restore your data from them. I have not used this
either but it should help you getting around most of the issues that
replication has. Replication is better used in scenarios where single
files have to be replicated between machines, not whole applications or
even servers.

Regards,

Klaus

Hi,

I'm currently on the way to setup a replication procedure from a
linux/universe Server A to another linux/universe Server B.

I read in the doc that files with triggers don't support the replication
!! Is there someone with experience with triggers and replication and if
yes, what solution do you found ?

I'll appreciate any comment.
Thanks

Manu
