There is a problem that VB6 will no longer have support from Microsoft and future versions of windows may not easily support VB6 applications and security updates will not cover VB6. There have been major bun fights over Microsoft related sites about this issue. If you have to do major works start moving it to .Net or java.
Actually .Net does significantly make a lot of things easier than with VB6 and you can do a lot more in the same amount of time and it is more robust. VS2005 is a major improvement to make it easier for people to move off VB6. Unfortunately with client desktops over the course of 10 years there have been several major changes where UniVerse has provided a consistent backward compatible environment. It makes sense to keep the business rules in UniVerse, then you don't have to keep rewriting them every couple of years.
