John: Only if it's designed to do so. For instance, you can use the same DIMM chip on a 4000 & 4050. You need to contact them by going to www.troygroup.com. Or use Google to search for TROY DIMM chips.
These chips are really very inexpensive. Some of the toner, on the other hand, is rather expensive. Depending on your output load, solutions are really inexpensive overall.
