Bummer Teri!

You've encountered a broken file with a Backward Link (blink) error. Call
your U2 support provider to find out the steps to recover.

U2 Lab Services baseline recommendation is for all systems to run UniVerse
Transaction Logging to eliminate broken files upon recovery of a down
system.

Any system that does not run UniVerse Transaction Logging takes a chance
of having broken files upon recovery, as you discovered.

A broken file will occur when system crashes when either of these happens:
a) A dynamic file expands or contracts
b) A static files extends for overflow

The reason is that three disk writes occur:
1. One writes for the forward pointer
2. One for the backward pointer and
3. One for the header of the file

Should any of these three writes not make it to the disk; the file will be
broken upon startup.

UniVerse Transaction Logging writes to the transaction log first, before
writing to the file. Upon recovery, the open UniVerse Transaction Log is
applied, thereby preserving the integrity of the file.

UniVerse Transaction Logging must be coupled with a Hardware Solution for
it to be effective.

Sorry to hear it!
