Be careful with fuser - you need to make sure you get the right device. You may need to check if rmt1 is linked (hard or soft) to any other devices.
If you do an ls -l what is the numeric value after the permissions column? If that is anything other than 1 then it would indicate that the file is linked to/from other files - and that could be why fuser doesn't give you the information you expect.
