... and they are 100% wrong!!! IBM had hoped to "bolt on" Red Brick technology to DB2. Unfortunately for them, most of Red Brick performance stems from not carrying the overheads that transactional databases have to. The secret of Red Brick is all the things it doesn't have. Oh, and clever stuff like automatic aggregate maintenance during bulk load, parallel loading of indexes, an index over the star (a multi-table index in which all your joins can be resolved).
