We see Mercury Load Runner, Segue, and Rational Rose on the high end for graphical interfaces or green screen. These require a secondary server to push the load to the primary server.
[AD] In the middle tier, U2 Lab Services has developed a scripting language that can Push Load to a Green Screen application, including SB+. This scripting language was used to push the load on the 15,200 user benchmark performed by U2 Lab Services last year. ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software/data/u2/pubs/ibmdb2_3-06.pdf The scripting language uses responses back from the application to initiate data that is fed to it. Unlike the high end systems, it does not record the session. You have to script it. The input data source can be hard coded, tables or U2 data files. This way, data entered into the screens can vary enough to avoid locking contentions. The load can be pushed from the same system, or from another system. It takes roughly 4 hours to 16 hours to develop a script for a single screen. Some of our customers use the scripts for regression testing, to make sure they haven't introduced bugs into their software. Contact me off line if you are interested.
