Just to give an update - it may help someone else one day.

Gyle gave me enough of a clue to get along with.  It _was_ the machine
type, so all that was required was to change the eighth character from
^000 to ^016.  Then VLIST did not fall over.  The source and output did
get out of step, but there was no core dump and the jump addresses
displayed correctly.  For my small program, this is adequate.
