We use a variety of scanners on a daily basis for both inventory and
receipts. The type of scanner you want to use really depends on the
application. For instance, we use Symbol wireless scanners for our inventory
app. The scanner actually runs a small terminal program, and the only
difference between writing a program for it versus one for a wintegrate
session is the size of the screen.

I'd offer more advice, but I'd really need to know what type of scanning you
have planned to be more helpful.
