Real or imagined, they will only allow access to the one u2-users list, some going as far as to only allowing them access to the digest, viewing it through their own portal, or distributing it to the blessed few. It's true they could access it at home or in their dorm but with so many road blocks put up and with so little traffic on the list, it isn't worth the hassle.
