I believe the IsActive property is not entirely accurate and tends more to reflect the situation when the last command, or whatever, ran. But hours-of-being-dormant later, testing this property does not prove the connection is still viable.
What do you do? The reason I ask is that in VB we try to execute the "DATE.FORMAT ON" command and then test the error status. In ASP.Net, this is not working the same way for us.
