I believe the IsActive property is not entirely accurate and tends more
to reflect the situation when the last command, or whatever, ran.  But
hours-of-being-dormant later, testing this property does not prove the
connection is still viable.

What do you do?

The reason I ask is that in VB we try to execute the "DATE.FORMAT ON"
command and then test the error status.  In ASP.Net, this is not working
the same way for us.

Any suggestions appreciated.
