The other way to handle it, if you can, is to make sure that the incoming date is unambiguous. If that date format is: dd-MMM-yyyy or yyyy-mm-dd [eg 01-Nov-2007 or 2007-11-01] it doesn't matter what the DATE.FORMAT setting is, it will always conv correctly.
