>(1) I have too many users + phantoms logging on and we have run out of >licences. Is there a utility out there that monitors this?
<AD> This can often be an issue and one solution is to log off idle users. There are many ways to do this but one we wrote (and sell ;-) is called LOGMON. This software takes a different approach than other methods. It monitors the cpu time of each user, and their child processes. That way we can be really sure that they are idle. Other approaches just look at keyboard activity, and can log off a user running a long job with no keyboard usage. LOGMON lets you vary the inactivity time by user, time of day, etc. You can customize how it logs users off, and since it runs at the Unix level it can handle other users than your Universe/Unidata users. If you'd like more info, send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] or visit http://www.logmon.com Thanks! </AD> +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Computronics Randy Styka, [EMAIL PROTECTED] | | 4N165 Wood Dale Road Phone: 630/941-7767 | | Addison, Illinois 60101 USA Fax: 630/941-7714 | +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ ------- u2-users mailing list [email protected] To unsubscribe please visit http://listserver.u2ug.org/
