Run confprod (in ud71\bin) or connect with UniAdmin and check the expiration date in the License. Older PE versions had an expiry date not long ago. There may also be further details in the udt.errlog (or one of the log files in the ud71\bin directory).
Is the Ud service set to run automatically? Does it work on a reboot? I've had trouble on some servers with the Windows Management Instrumentation Service locking some memory segments. You can use Process Explorer (from www.sysinternals.com - now redirected to microsoft) to see the 'shared memory' sections sbcs has attached - and then review other services to see if any others have also attached these sections. The types of files you want to review are labeled 'sections' and are named UDShm- followed by some numbers. If other services/processes keep UniData shared memory (memory mapped files/sections) open, UniData services may not be able to restart. You might need to setup some dependencies to stop another service prior to stopping UniData services. hth Colin Alfke Calgary, Canada -----Original Message----- From: Bruce McAdoo >From Windows Services and Applications, Services, I attempt to start Unidata Database Service 7.1, I receive the following message: Could not Start Unidata Database service 7.1 service on local computer.
