You can read a file on the system with UniObjects directly.

I opened a file /tmp/MFG.DATA.IPS/MFG.DATA.IPS070808 by opening the
MFG.DATA.IPS file record ID o;?MFG.DATA.IPS070808.

/tmp/MFG.DATA.IPS has a VOC entry.
0001 DIR 
0002 /tmp/MFG.DATA.IPS 
0003 D_VOC

In this case the file was read with the UniFile class. Each line is an
attribute. There are sequential file classes as well.
