Hi.
You need UniVerse installed on XP. (Maybe Personal-Edition...)
Assume you have your file with uvbackup in C:\temp\myfile.uvbk
Then run "c:\ibm\uv\bin\uvrestore -v -t C:\temp\myfile.uvbk"
It will create the same directory tree you had in the original box (some
like /home/Data...) with your Universe Files.
The rest, (ACCOUNTS, users, etc) depends on your App.
HTH.

Subject: [U2] Getting data out of Universe without runtime.
I have two files.
The first file is a backup file created with uvbackup from a univers
database.
The second file is a tarred and zipped copy of the univers folder
(including
all data and programs) from an old SCO Unix system.
I have Windows XP and no idea of how to get the data out of either the
backup or the univers folder.
I've downloaded and installed some software from ibm called "Unidata
RDBMS
7.2"
How do I restore the data from the backup using unidata tools, and how do
I
then access that data via ODBC?
Is there a way of sucking the data out of my compressed univers folder?
If not, is there anybody who can do this for me for a small fee and, if
so,
how do I find them?
thank you.
