I should have included that ulimit is in fact "unlimited". IBM sent us a later version (March 2008) of fixtool. I believe I have used fixtool on files over the 2gb limit before, and gotten the file in good enough shape to copy to a 64 bit file. However that was on 10.0.8, we're now on 10.2.2. Does anyone know if the ulimit reference is a red herring?
