Hi Group,

I came back to the UK in Dec 06 to work for Temenos as a Lead
Technical Architect. The idea was that, after training up in jBASE and
their T24 product (which is HUGE), I would be doing the rounds of
client sites helping them with decisions regarding possible upgrades,
future direction, troubleshooting, etc.. With my kids being in Bristol
and the client sites spread around the UK and northern europe I
decided it was best to base myself in Bristol. Whenever I had to spend
time at the head office or on a client site in London I would be
expected to meet my own travel and accomodation expenses. As Murphy's
Law would have it I ended up spending the majority of my time in
London - so I was effectively on half pay (London isn't cheap) and,
even when I was away on client sites, I was only getting home at
weekends. When I was away on site in the Channel Islands, Ireland,
Scotland, Stockholm or Helsinki, my time at home was often to arrive
home very late on a Friday night and to fly out again on Sunday
afternoon in order to be on site first thing Monday morning. Obviously
it was better for me financially to be out and about, and so my
manager was doing his best to find anything for me out and about. The
sort of thing I was doing was not what my training or experience had
equipped me for - "Requirements Gathering", which entailed going
through banking system standards and specification documents and
analysing which aspects were already covered by aspects of the T24
application and which would require bespoke work. I quit. In
hindsight... not the wisest decision I've ever made. That was in July.
For the next few months I wasn't actively seeking another position but
revelled in the ability to simply spend time at home - after seeing so
little of it for the past months/years. Then the money began to run
out and I became active on the job-hunting circuit - about the same
time as the recession/depression really started to bite. So... now I'm
desperate. I have skills that I know are in demand. I have often heard
that people can decide to move off MV/Pick due to a perceived lack of
skilled people, and yet they don't actively search for those skills.
Hence this post. I'm not keen on moving away from Bristol but will
happily commute at weekends - provided I can do so at a reasonable
cost. I guess that rules out London. I am available for an immediate
start. If you need someone with MV/Pick/T24 skills or know someone
that might be, then please email me direct for my CV.

   Best regards,
   Mike.
